Our team provided structural design and detailing services for the two storey extension of an existing self storage facility.
We worked closely and effectively with the client, architect and contractors to deliver a comprehensive design that incorporated:
- Alterations to the existing building, which had to be kept in service during the construction phase
- Consideration of architectural requirements such as storage unit layout, accessways, stairs and ramps, internal gutters etc
- Allowance for a raised floor to avoid an overland flow path
- Suspended concrete slabs to bridge over public drainage
- Careful seismic design and detailing to ensure compatibility with the existing building
- Requirements for fire protection
- Lightweight and cost effective upper level floor, wall and roof structure
- Quick and efficient responses during the construction phase to adapt to existing structure and client changes
